Valentine’s Day manicure
A little late because I didn’t have the time to edit my photos prior to the day, but here they are. I’ve gotta say, it’s probably one of my favorite manicures. And longest lasting! It’s still completely chip free after a week.
I recently purchased those Sally Hansen nail polish strips to try out. While at the store, I considered buying their “Love Letter” print, which is black script on a white background. I thought it’d make for a lovely manicure, but as my motto is, “Why buy it if I can make it?”
So using my DIY nail decal method and my Sally Hansen black nail art pen, I created my own version. I liked doing it for myself because I was able to personalize it. There are 3 quotes I used/paraphrased.
- “I no longer believed in the idea of soul mates, or love at first sight. But I was beginning to believe that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together.”
- “Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.”
- “One of my philosophy professors lectured wildly about love once, yelling: ‘When you’re in love with someone, that person is the lighthouse of your universe.’ (I scrawled it inside Science and Poetry in pencil—lighthouse of your universe—as if I would ever forget that phrase.) He was a delightful caricature of his position. I could swear he literally tore his hair out while howling at us. He went on, ‘Nothing means as much without that person.’ One of the men in the class repeated, incredulous, half-laughing, ‘So you’re saying you can’t enjoy, like, a vacation, without someone if you’re really in love with them?’ ‘Of course not,’ the professor replied. ‘Not completely. You recognize beauty, but beauty means less if they don’t witness it with you. Beauty is less. You see something sublime and your first thought is that they should be there with you. It’s not as good without them. They illuminate. They make everything more.’”
I know that the second quote is attributed to Dalai Lama XIV. I don’t have any idea who said the two others. If anyone knows, please let me know.
I chose those 3 quotes because they encapsulate how I feel about Brian. I have always said that he isn’t perfect, but he’s perfect for me. And even though he’s 3,000 miles away, it doesn’t change how I feel about him. He is still my best friend and the light of my life. He has made the last 8 years the best ones of my life.
